How to Take Care of a Good and True Horse to Avoid Prolonged Pain

Maintenance of horses requires time and money. Knowing that a horse can live up to 30 years, you will need a monthly estimate of at least 250 euros or more! Of course, if you were lucky enough to be able to start an adventure, we would be happiest because the horses are fantastic friends. Here are instructions for doing something to convince you to take good care of your horse or horse.

1. Give him a horse supplements and place him

If he lives in the grasslands, it is very urgent that our horses have access to their respective shelters during the summer and winter. Settlement means a clean, comfortable, well-maintained location that surrenders protection from bad weather, heat and disruptive insects [1].

Depending on the needs, the shelter location can be a simple jacket, cabin or stable in free access.

You can often choose pension at the equestrian center. Depending on the place and service, you will find it cheaper than 100 euros per month, but for a competitive horse in a luxury cage, it will take almost 1,000 euros! Some stables can give us discounts or a number of hours of practice in exchange for hands to wash boxes or do maintenance work.

In the box, your horse must have comfortable trash for the night.

Even if horses can sleep, they still need to lie down at night, so they need good clean and comfortable thickness to do this! Be aware of health problems if garbage is not properly cared for.

A very economical choice is straw. It has the advantage of escorting heat and is really comfortable, but can carry fungi and parasites and if dusty, resulting in respiratory problems. Because it is important to monitor the health of the horse.

Chips are more expensive, but not dusty enough and they are more hygienic. Our horse won’t eat it like straw, which will prevent it from swallowing something bad for its health.

Hemp is becoming more popular because it presents a risk of not getting enough health than straw.

Be sure to feed your horse properly.

A medium-sized horse consumes 11 kg of food each day. But horses have a small stomach and a sensitive digestive system, which means that in freedom, they graze throughout the day rather than consuming one or two concentrated large foods.

Give about half of a roll of straw or alfalfa (or a combination of both) one day for our horse (depending on the size, breed and work), for 2% of its weight.

Two to three times a day, give him concentrated food rations (wheat, barley, corn petals. or pellets. Horses like to be routine: give them a meal at a fixed time and don’t forget to give them horse supplements!

Prevent the risk of colic by checking what you put in your horse’s exile. Straw must be not infrequently cold, throw away not a few that have unusual colors, dust, mold or unpleasant odors: see the risk of colic and emphysema!

Give a daily care

In summer, you can bathe your horse. Get an antifungal shampoo. Horse hair is naturally covered with impermeable substances that will be removed with soap, so be sure to choose a bright day to bathe with your partner and if you can’t, cover it with a shirt or hold cover before releasing it to the pasture right afterwards.

Use a saddle pads to make them relax. If you chase a big knot, release them with our fingers first. Don’t use scissors, we will create a hole that appears in the mass of the horse that will take months to grow back to normal. Don’t also tear the knot, it’s shorter hair.

Your horse must have access to water points at will.

A size horse is drinking more than 40 liters of water a day! Water must always be the cleanest and coldest, which means that you have to wash and fill the bucket most regularly or check that the automatic waterers are not dirty, if our horse will refuse to drink. In the grasslands, you should check the waterer situation at least once a week to make sure that the algae does not grow.

If your horse drinks in a bucket in a box, consider filling it at least twice a day.

Automatic sprinklers are the best choice because they save you a little round trip to fill a bucket that can always be destroyed. But pipes can freeze in winter: check their situation continuously.
